A MESSAGE FROM THE EXECUTIVE BOARD
The Executive Board met to discuss the possibility of playing in March. Unfortunately, a decision was made to CANCEL the Spring 2021 Season. This decision was made for the following reasons:
While the Coronavirus situation seems to be settling down a bit in Nevada, we are still not there yet. Governor Sisolak is in the process of opening a variety of venues between February 1st through May 1st. Even with the opening of these venues, individuals must still follow the Covid-19 protocols – socially distanced, mask wearing, and hand washing.
As you may well imagine, it is difficult for Bocce players to remain socially distanced while playing on the court and/or surrounding areas and the repeated cleansing of the bocce balls between players would be difficult to do.
Several of our bocce members have had or currently have the virus. I understand some members are still suffering with post virus issues. Our prayers go out to our bocce players and their family members still suffering.
In addition to the Coronavirus, another reason for the decision to cancel our bocce Fall season is due to the extensive damage to our bocce courts over the past year. See below details.
By waiting until the Fall, there is a strong possibility that many of our bocce players will be vaccinated. This of course will help to reduce the transmission of the virus. We need to do everything we can to help protect our bocce family and friends.

Great news! I have received numerous inquiries into our league via the Bocce Club of Las Vegas website. This is very encouraging. Currently our league has approximately 60 players. This does not include the additional 11 new and potential members.
Let us keep our fingers crossed that Nevada will continue to make progress on the Coronavirus front and the City will respond to our request to repair the courts.
Again, we anticipate starting our Fall 2021 Season league on Tuesday, August 10, 2021. So, let us be optimistic and mark our calendars!

Bocce Courts
Last Thursday, Jack and I stopped by the bocce courts to check things out. It was a horrible sight.
The courts were a mess.
Several courts have side boards broken away in various spots exposing and loosening the screws and side boards.
Court #2 (Handicap court) has two 6” long raised glue strips and broken concrete at handicap access.
Court #3 has an 18” diameter and 6” deep depression in the artificial turf.
Court #8 has a 7” by 7” cut in the artificial turf.
Courts #9 and #10 no longer have artificial turf. The courts have been stripped down to dirt level.
Efforts are being made by The Board to contact the City and strongly suggest repairs be made to the bocce courts as soon as possible. By fixing the bocce courts it will help promote a healthy lifestyle for all age groups through exercise and athletic competition. See below pictures of court damage.
